Proposed or failed racing series of the past.

PROPOSED, FAILED or just SHORT LIVED...
Over the years, there have been quite a few series that were proposed, cars built & then it was either cancelled or very short lived.
There was some really exciting proposals, but they just never took off.
It’s a shame really, because we have been denied some ( on paper) exciting formulas.
But there was many others....
Bring back ProCar...now that was a great idea.

1996: FORMULA CLASSIC; MOTHBALLED
https://car-from-uk.com/sale.php?id=249248&cou...
A single seater formula proposed by Tom Wheatcroft, that would have raced at Donington.
Modern running gear, but based on 1950’s cars.
I think that Sir Stirling Moss also had some input into this.

Pro car was never likely, it would have been massively expensive.

seen as a rival.
The Jag & Peugeot were initially built... but a lot more manufacturers were interested.

Wow, P100s and Formula Firsts, that's some memories. I was working at a race team in Louth when that was going on, we ran a few cars in First, basically drivers would pay us to handle the cars, they'd just rock up and drive at the weekend. Bobby V-Roe, Heather Baillie and Scott Lakin if I remember correctly. We also ran the XR3is that ran at Cadwell, ended up marshalling a few times when they were short on track days.
We did have two P100s, not sure they were supposed to be for racing but we took one to Snett, we had a random South American racer in it and he casually put it on pole, led for two laps then the engine let go. Think they got crushed a few months after, good memories of dragging one round Cadwell trying to free the clutch after they'd been stood a while.
Old boss ended up marketing director of Pacific GP, that went well.......
