I've finally been badgered into letting the 11yo go racing karts. As such we need proper certified kit, CMR2016 helmet, race-suit etc.

I've found a lot of stuff on-line which is an option but ideally I'd like to get stuff that fits properly and a shop that offers advice and support would be great. Hopefully a one stop.

We are in Berkshire and I don't mind a bit of a drive.

If that's a no go then recommended reliable online shops? Anything I need to look out for specifically, reviews for things like helmets seem thin on the ground and it's not really clear to me why one certified helmet is £300 and another that looks essentially the same is £1000. I don't want to scrimp on safety equipment but I don't want to pay over the odds for stuff until we really find out what we need.

It's many years ago but Merlin Motorsport at castle Combe were always helpful when i contacted or visited them. They have a physical shop on site, but may be worth ringing in advance to see what they have in stock. Other than that, a bit of a drive for you but demon tweeks in Wrexham have a big showroom. Again with covid etc not sure what guidance is so maybe worth ringing ahead.

I bought gear from Grand Prix Racewear at Silverstone many moons ago, looks like they’re still there now.

Thanks, I think Silverstone sounds like the best bet. I'll see if I need and can get an appointment.

You can just walk in there but worth calling first and making sure they have stock of the sort of bits you need!

Thought I would update the thread. Had a trip up to Grand Prix Racewear on Saturday and managed to buy everything we needed.
It was a good idea as the sizing was way out and we needed much larger helmets and race suits than the sizing seemed to indicate from our measurements.

Service was great and helped us find what we needed. A worthwhile trip.
