Not very environmetally friendly, though, is it?
Exactly. rscott said:
Net zero carbon footprint, no air freighting involved (they've got a single ship everything travels on) - https://www.extreme-e.com/en/sustainability
Does net zero include the production and life cycle of the cars/batteries etc? At the moment they're saying they're only aiming for net zero, not actually achieving it.
It looks an interesting and possibly entertaining series but motorsport will never be an environmentally friendly undertaking.

They do mention a lifecycle analysis, so presumably that will take into account car/battery manufacturing and the production of the hydrogen being used to charge the cars.
Interesting to see the environmental footprint of the spectators - 20 -50% of the total for an event.

A carbon neutral sport must also neutralise the carbon emmisions of every spectator. That means the emmisions incurred from every view, every download, etc.
The most environmentally friendly sport is a non-existent one.
Give it 9 years and you'll be able to watch it on Sky and still be carbon neutral - https://www.skygroup.sky/en-gb/article/sky-commits... .The most environmentally friendly sport is a non-existent one.
"Sky has today announced plans to go net zero carbon by 2030 by cutting the emissions created from the use of its products, its suppliers across the world and by its business"
Bloody hell, they've really gone to town with the viewing options on this, with the coverage spread out over various services.
It appears the broadcast agreement has the practice, qualy & races all divided / spread out between Sky Sports, BT Sport, BBC (via red button & online services) & ITV (mainly via the ITV Hub but also possible occasional live coverage on ITV1 / ITV4). But even then only some services have full coverage (Sky) whilst others have limited live coverage of only the practice / qualy, whilst BBC / ITV will show some coverage live online, other coverage will be shown "delayed - as live", and in some cases will only show the last 30-60 minutes of the race live, and even then is subject to short notice agreements between broadcasters on the weekends the races take place.
Should make it fun trying to figure out what is / isn't being broadcast where & when

Trying very hard to enjoy e-motorsport as I realise it will be the future but formula-e never really did it for me although I did enjoy the race they did at Templehof. This looks not too bad so far and will be following the rest of this race. Rosberg looks like he’s got a decent team there.
This format looks better suited to e-racing though as it’s harder to compare it to a known circuit. You know that an electric car going round Spa or Monza is going very slow but this could be comparable to a Dakar car for all we know.

I watched it on You Tube, only caught the last 50 minutes or so and enjoyed it. Just need to catch the next loot of qualifying which I think is at Noon live.

Very much a new venture, in its infancy, but could be a big success.
I wouldn’t judge it too harshly at this stage, everyone is learning, but surely it’s going to favour the rally and off-road drivers over circuit drivers.
And, even with all that space, it doesn’t take much to have a big accident.
