If you're gonna be a bear, be a grizzly. I love these aero-engined things. Not sure what to do with that twenty litre Maybach airship engine in the kitchen that you keep tripping over? Bolt it into your Isotta and give it some welly
Pfffffft. 20 litre airship engine.27 Litre Merlin in a customised Rolls Royce Chassis
The utterly bonkers Rolls Royce Handlye Special, built by the father of an ex girlfriend from school days in his barn at their farm.
TOTALLY insane. But a brilliant handbuilt and re-engineered MONSTER.

For me, this is pretty much top of the list:
yes, a race car, but one that took it's most famous drive on a public road:
If you didn't know, you'd think the footage had been speeded up.........
I’ve seen that before but it doesn’t get any less crazy. Surely that must be approaching the limits of human life given the G involved? Fuchsrorh for example and flazgarten2. yes, a race car, but one that took it's most famous drive on a public road:

There used to be a Skoda s110r bodied chevy engined space frame Hill climb car in the 80s, maybe earlier. Saw it in C and CC a few times

They’re those rubbery lines I mentioned.

Ditto the ‘Chimp’ (great name), a Chevron B19 clothed in a stretched Imp body, built and raced by Jonathan Buncombe (who I ended up racing against in a different series). It was Earth shatteringly fast, but was banned due to having a non standard wheelbase for the body.
It’s since been re-rebuilt back into a B19 and is currently for sale.

Hillclimbs are good hunting grounds for wacky cars. Twin bike engines etc.
There was one car in the recent past that had a helicopter gas turbine driving a turbo charger and then the turbo as plumbed in to feed a piston engine with a constant amount of boost.

Some times they fly north and terrorise UK mainlanders.

Sorry if this repeats a previous thread, I couldn’t see anything similar recently.
I’ll start with the AVS Shadow (620 BHP in a go kart! - I think this is Vic Elford in it)... (and expect plenty of Chapparal and Citroen afterwards, but please include road cars!).
Yes that is quick Vic, the steering column was a vertical post at mid thigh level, a brave man and he survived it. I’ll start with the AVS Shadow (620 BHP in a go kart! - I think this is Vic Elford in it)... (and expect plenty of Chapparal and Citroen afterwards, but please include road cars!).
CanAm was the birthplace of a few other unusual cars such as this Schkee..
Whilst the Chaparral 2H had plenty of downforce :

These might all be road legal at a push. Rather than silly fast slicks and aero I'm more a fan of brute force and being on the edge. And i like Subarus so these are right up there for me.
RCM Gobstopper
McRae hillclimb car
And although not Subaru, road car or competition car really but just for the unnecessary OTTness of it I love the Hoonicorn V2. How to make a Senna look silly. How quickly it goes through the gears is mad. I'd love to try ang get that along my favourite B roads
