Just watching the last DTM race of the season. They plan to go all electric
for the championship in 2023. They have a prototype 1000hp electric racer doing demonstration laps, all four tyres smoking off the line. Are there any rumours of BTCC following suite?

They are going hybrid in 2020 well in the sense that the cars will have a battery and low voltage electric motor added on to the exsisting ngtc cars.
Dtm only option is to go electric the main 3 german brands are going electric and dtm has only really been interested in being german so its the only option for it to survive. Its pretty much dead now having to go gt3ish specs for the next 2 years.

So theres a pretty good chance that DTM will have more powerful/faster electric cars in a Saloon championship then Formula E does in a more mature (in terms of time using electric motor tech) single seater championship?

Development is heavily restricted in FE so a clean sheet design could easily out perform one of those cars. The question is will the german manufacturers who are heavily investing in Formula E also pour money into electric DTM?
