It's bloody cold here at Silverstone just now, but at least it's dry.

What will happen to the championship standings this weekend? Will Sutton remain ahead or will Turkington catch up again?

Turkington likely to catchup this weekend one way or another, Lord Gow won't want the gap to be too big at the top.

Oh look , a female driver gets one weekend in the BTCC ,so the BBC Breakfast have a feature on her .

How much interest do they usually show ?

Did they mention a British pair won a WRC event last weekend ?.....doubt it !

Just saying .

Oh look! Someone getting butthurt about women getting airtime for their participation in popular sports.

How much interest would they show if BBC Breakfast did a feature on a male racing driver?

Have they remembered that there hasn't been a female driver in the BTCC for a significant period of time?.... doubt it !

Just saying.

I don’t think Pericoloso was complaining about a woman getting coverage on BBC. It’s important. I took his point to be more a complaint that the BBC never reports on BTCC and it requires something so rare as a woman driving before they will cover it.

I took there post to mean they disapprove of the BBC not ever reporting on BTCC as the issue.

Or at least I hope so.

I can see how that can be derived from the original post, but judging by the amount of coverage available on mainstream channels, it presents a very weak argument IMO.

We should be celebrating the fact that she had a feature and promoted the BTCC through the BBC feature, not complaining about the lack of coverage. The fact that ITV2/4 carve out 6-8 hours of coverage every other Sunday isn't enough? The fact that BBC are doing a feature on a female driver in the BTCC isnt enough?

And then to make comments suggesting she is going to probably be a the back of the grid? Weak.

A true BTCC fan would be happy about any driver getting coverage, or joining the championship for the first time.

When did you first go to a BTCC race live ?
Me ,about 1983 and I went to plenty in the lean years before RS500s and M3s livened it up.
Yeah , not a real fan.

Snetterton 2014.

I had watched every race I could possibly watch whilst growing up throughout the super touring era.

I was born in 1990, so unfortunately couldn't go to the same races as you. I guess that means I'm not a real fan either?

The point around my post was that a true fan wouldn't complain about a driver getting coverage based on their gender.

Also, let's just take a moment to appreciate the fact that he didn't answer any of my other points, just got instantly sulky when I insinuated that he wasn't a real fan of the BTCC...

Expectations seem to be getting out of hand on social media with plenty of people talking about top 15 and even top 10 for Jade. It would be great for her but I can't see it happening without a lot of carnage in front. Realistically a top 20 would be a great result but many would see that as failure.

Tomorrow's top ten grid.

Cammish
Ingram
Butcher
Turkington
Oliphant
Neal
Sutton
Morgan
Chilton
Hill.

Someone brighter than me can post the full grid with times later.....smile

I looked at last week's grid too , Rob Austin 1.1 seconds off pole in 16th , Jade isn't going to match that in the same car ,she just doesn't have the experience.

That's not a sexist remark !

I can't even find the rest of the grid positions....confusedgetmecoat

If you didn't say daft things, you wouldn't have to worry about being called out for it...

All this aside, I am looking forward to these rounds, although I always find Silverstone to be a bit of a vanilla circuit compared to others on the calendar, IMO.

It is hard to say exactly who I would put my money on to win Rd 1... Tingram is on the front row of the grid and after a very successful weekend at Thruxton, he might be the best person to put the fight to DanCam, that is of course if he doesn't get mugged off the line by Turks. Dan will be hard to pass though, so I'd imagine that the win will probably go his way as long as he doesn't bin it, or the car doesn't bin it for him.

Remember going with my dad, when you could park the car on the downslopes of the embankment at Silverstone, and watch the racing in the warm through the rain streaming down the windscreen.

Ah.....Rover V8s, Jag V12s.......those were the days..........pass my cardigan and slippers smile

From the quali results those top 15 expectations may need to be revised spectacularly. This is the problem with the majority of BTCC fans, especially on social media. They don't realise how hard the cars actually are to drive and think any half decent driver could be in the top 10 just by jumping into a half decent car

First Female Driver since 2007. We know why.
