Anyone know what all this is about?

Hyundai not taking part apparently as not wanted. Assume there is a back story to it.

... which indicates that WTCR introduced a new standardised ECU for this season which all teams were expected to run. Only it appears that when the season started Hyundai's nearest rivals from last season all applied for, and were granted, a full exemption from running the ECU this season claiming they didn't have time to properly integrate it into their cars - even though Hyundai and a few other teams did manage to do so even at great cost in doing so. As a result the exempted teams, still running the ECU setups from last season, were given minimal weight gains on their cars in an attempt to balance the difference out, but it made little difference at the first race weekend.
As a result Hyundai have claimed it's been setup this way to deliberately counter their success of last year and that the rival teams had no intention of trying to get the new ECU to work with their cars this season but instead found a workaround / exemption to ensure they were competative.
