Can't say I disagree with anything he says. There are way too many series at pretty much every level so some sort of consolidation is definitely needed. There weren't many (if any) series running full grids of competitive teams before all of this so it's hard to see how there can be afterwards with the world heading for an epic recession.
Somebody has put it on the Autosport forum; and I think he may be right. Now on YouTube:

Some series may well disappear, some may combine. I personally think, governing bodies. series promoters have to be more flexible in the period following the return to 'normality', whatever normal will now look like.
With the likely economic downturn, can series continue with the current number of teams, or number of races they currently have? Sponsors, manufacturers may pull the plug.
To think we'll return as we left is highly improbable/ naive, but who knows what will happen?

In the short term there may well be a few series that merge or grids have lower numbers. The recovery always happens though, same thing happened after the last recession.
This is a bit different though as it's coinciding with the run up to the banning of ICE cars in many countries, far tighter emission controls (so less sales of high performance cars) and the recession is likely to be far deeper and longer than the previous one.Gassing Station | General Motorsport | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
