Italian Historic hillclimb champioship pics.

Seeing as Italy is on a downer currently due to virus outbreak ,here's something to brighten up the day.

I went to this on May 12th last year.

The hillclimb runs from near one of the entrances to Mugello circuit ,Scarperia ,up the hill to Giogo.









This Mini was all over the shop on this corner ,yes heading straight for me at this point.

This is the order in which they came up the hill ,a very varied entry.



I didn't have an entry list ,until I went back to the start point at the end and had no idea what was coming round the corner next.

Apart from the distinctive note of an aircooled 911.

a police car escorted them all back down the hill ,as most were not road legal.

I don't know why I didn't post them earlier.

This was almost my favourite event of 6 weeks in Italy over May and June ,just a couple of hours of a Sunday morning, no charge

to watch by the side of a public road is always nice.

I hope to go to this again this year but not if travel is restricted due to what I mentioned in the OP.

If I go to Italy I will also take in a round of the Italian [non historic cars] hillclimb championship at a different place south.

Perhaps this is the way to go with the new 'racing on public roads' laws in the UK. Rather than trying to setup big fancy multi-day events trying to be the next Festival of Speed, just close off a bit of twisty road early doors on a Sunday and have a one-and-done run each and be packed up before the NIMBYs are out for their Sunday drive.

I'm sure people would be just as up for a single run over a couple of mile course as they would for the usual 4x one minute runs up the typical UK hill.

Don't think you're going to find entry list but calendar gives dates and location of events.

I cant even remember how I found that website as I was googling something else but it popped up and proved

very useful.

If I could go again at the end of August I'd go to the Abetone event too as it's nearer where I stay.

The hillclimb championships for modern stuff is also listed there.

They looks so good in the pics, one can only imagine how lovely it must be to see, hear and smell them going past.

The spot where I stood ,behind the Armco just after a corner was less than a mile into the climb from the start.

I wanted a spot that wasn't a long walk away ,I'm not young anymore and also wanted a spot far enough into the course

that they had got some speed up.

It was a blind corner and I had no idea what was coming next ,apart from the flat 6 911 noise.

I highly recommend anyone to go .
