WEC hypercar power limit

Hasn't it always been the case though?
Pretty sure the corvette c7.r gte car makes less power than the road going version.
I don’t recall Moslers 911RSR mcLarenF1 the Ferraris challenge/Stradales etc all way more than road spec. Pretty sure the corvette c7.r gte car makes less power than the road going version.
750bhp is nonsense low power - we need more power than grip to test the drivers or give the choice to the teams.

So with the latest round of WEC rules limiting the power output to 750Bhp
we now have the slightly ridiculous prospect of the racing car being considerably slower than the road car upon which its based?
Its hardly a new thing in racing or rally cars. Anything with a restrictor fitted or fuel capacity limit will produce less ultimate performance from the engine. Race cars get their performance more from the none power areas which are designed for the application. we now have the slightly ridiculous prospect of the racing car being considerably slower than the road car upon which its based?

There is no road version of current 911 RSR ,The mid engine version.750bhp is nonsense low power - we need more power than grip to test the drivers or give the choice to the teams.
Have Mosler ever raced at LM or in WEC ?
So much other nonsense.

The 750 is for the power unit. They also have a 270 electric motor so they’re plenty powerful enough given their weight.
sadly I think the 750 is the total power from whatever sourcethe Valkyrie for example will have to be seriously de-tuned and it has an electric motor in the road car too

In a situation where you have to detune maximum power by so much isn’t one outcome that you have a totally flat torque curve from idle to rev limit?the Valkyrie for example will have to be seriously de-tuned and it has an electric motor in the road car too

Less powerful than the road cars does not equate to slower laptimes than the road cars. Suspension setup, slicks, weight (reduction and distribution), gearing, downforce, ride height and CoG, brake performance all spring to mind.
The road car would probably need another couple of hundred bhp to overcome it's disadvantage in all those areas.
