Good stuff look forward to watching it - my favourite race of the year , (maybe not quite as good looking as it used to be with cars like the black and gold 635csi and then the fire spitting Rs500’s but the racing is a lot closer than ever).2017 race - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LDi5DtERvWI
I’ve driven a race prepared Ford Falcon V8 on a track day in Auz it was a lovely easy thing to slide and very stable/forgiving, would love to have a go in one of these current cars round Bathurst.
After Pukekohe the form book would suggest that the car to have with the current parity is the Holden, it was an absolute rocket ship on the straights, but I've got a feeling that car 17 might just manage to do it this year. DJR can go all out, the championship is all but done so there's less to think of points wise
Just watched Practice 1 and 2, the cars are seriously quick this year, records will be broken.
Touring Car Masters class (manufactured between 1963 and 1978) are incredibly fast given that they're up to 55 years old, only 10(ish) seconds slower than the Supercars over a 2.15 lap and hitting close to 300kph on Conrod straight.
Fantastic weekend ahead, put it on your bucket list to visit and prepare to have your mind blown when you watch the cars crest Skyline, sideways and on two wheels at 130mph!

I remember the race where the BTCC cars came over. It seemed the coolest idea as a teenager and like a real world computer game of mixing race series. 1998 and this was the only copy I saw on YouTube:

Shame they don’t do this anymore!

Out of season Mount Panorama is a public road. I drove it in a Hyundai Santa Fe (yuk!). Although they monitor speeds it’s still a thrill driving down Conrad and through the Chase.
Last time I drove around it in an Astra turbo you went in the opposite direction to to race, took awhile to get my head around it, good craic thoughGassing Station | General Motorsport | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
