Knockhill Spectating
Discussion
They've spent a few bob over the last couple of years improving the spectating areas and as it's a short track, you can walk around it in no time to get measure of where you prefer. I used to like Duffus Dip but I think they've moved the fence further back so it doesn't look so dramatic. The hairpin and section between Leslie's and Scotsman are good. I missed it last year and won't make this year either due to work so I'm jealous. However, with it being a month later than usual, the weather is only going to be worse.
As mentioned, duffus dip (very popular, you will need to be there early to bag a spot) or the chicane (you have the cars pass you at almost eye level, this is where we will be) just after it. The commentators were talking about it at the weekend there and they reckon the best spot is just before clarkes corner (before the stands).
If you are going Sat and Sun you will have plenty of time to scope it out on the Saturday. It's worth mentioning no gazebos or tents allowed as the spectator banks are quite narrow. We will be camping from Friday (brrrr). Can't wait!

I like Duffus Dip, much like the rest of the folks heading along this weekend this is where we’ll base ourselves on the Sunday.
I also like Scotsman as the cars belt down the hill into heavy breaking.
Unlike the last two years of mega downpour, this weekend is actually looking pretty decent in Knockhill weather terms! I did get drenched at Croft this year, so hoping that will be my wettest weekend of the BTCC calendar!

Parking is usually not too bad. If you get anywhere near the track is another matter. You maybe in a field a short bus trip away. The entrance is not always the same as the exit so beware of large potholes to take splitters off.
Inside of duffus dip was always my favorite about 150m down from the bridge. You usually get someone flying through hay bales and gravel in your eyeline from there.

I didn't think they used the shuttle buses anymore, where they used to park cars in a field away from the circuit.Inside of duffus dip was always my favorite about 150m down from the bridge. You usually get someone flying through hay bales and gravel in your eyeline from there.
They've got quite alot of parking within the circuit now, especially around the back of the track.
I was last at the BTCC at Knockhill 2 years ago, and although we had to queue to get out, it wasn't as bad as I remember it in previous years.
We usually have a wander, and watch each race in a different spot. Normally, Duffus Dip, the chicane or even the hairpin can be good too. Another place that is interesting to watch, is from the centre of the track using the footbridge at the start/finish straight.
I also like the fact they have the big screens so you can watch what's happening at the other side of the track.
I'm looking forward to it. The weather will certainly be different from the 28degree heat when we went to Croft last year!
