If I had to choose between just one of the International GT Open series or British GT this year, which would your choice be for closest racing / widest variety of GT cars?

I can see the British GT looks like a bigger entry field, but has it been close racing this year?

Never watched the International GT Open & field looks smaller.

..or could watch WEC, which I've done before & really like, but been there, done that a few times.

All the British GT races are on YouTube. Worth a watch if you’re considering it.

I've done British GT at Donington and Blancpain Endurance at Silverstone so far this year. I enjoyed Silverstone more but British GT and the support races were by no means dull either.

Also off to WEC and ELMS at Silverstone at the end of August as I've not done them before and should be a lot nicer than the previous April date on the calendar.

Blancpain's out as can't afford to travel to Europe (again this year!)

You'll see more of the circuit at Donington.

The WEC end of August should be good. Get stand access and the crowds are normally smallish (assuming they open them). You will get a pit walk and a signing session as well.

I was looking at British GT as well but I'm not sure about the gentlemen racer element.

To add to the mix; going to want to take a load of photos.

Silverstone I know well and know where to get good (ish) pictures outside the fence.

How far round Donington can you go and can you get good pics thru / past / round the fence - going to want to walk to different spots.

At Donington you can get all round the infield of the National circuit, and 3/4 of the way around the outfield.

There is quite a lot of catch fencing, so you have to work at it, but there are angles to get a fence free shot. As the viewing areas are banked, you can often shoot over the fence at the trade off from being further away.

As a curve ball - DTM comes to Brands Hatch in the middle of August.

WEC is great though, this year the GT class has been a race-long battle every time. No Fords this year though frown

Depends how bothered you are by the number of get cars on display, the WEC (and the ELMS on the Saturday) are more prototype based, British GT will have a higher number of GT’s running.

As a photographer I prefer Donington to Silverstone.
