Hi. I am preparing a Nissan 350Z for use in Sprints and Hill Climbs. I must fit an engine/battery cut out. As part of the installation I need to connect the positive alternator terminal to earth when the switch is activated. The alternator is buried in the depths of the engine compartment and. even with the lower tray removed the connections are very difficult to reach when scrabbeling around on the dirt with the car on ramps. Can I presume that the +ve alternator terminal is connected directly to the battery +ve and earth that instead (remembering of course that the battery -ve will already have been isolated)?

Never had to do that with any FIA switch I've fitted. The resistor handles the run on.

Thanks Zulu. Your explanation (and drawing) make complete sense. I will connect that way.
