Anglesey Circuit in the news
Discussion
Looks like they have plans for some expansion and improvement of facilities for 2021

Fingers crossed at least one Welsh circuit can get some money to spend, if they do the right things, they'd be able to host some bigger events, the BTCC needs another circuit on the calendar and Anglesey would be great for it.

I'd imagine (hope) they don't plan on touching the circuit, just improving the paddock, garages, food and drink facilities and toilets.
I'd imagine they need some grandstands too...
Either way, if it means some big championships are more likely to visit, that'd be a good thing, even if grandstands spoil the view in some photos...

There's an interview with Alan Gow in Motorsport magazine this month. He directly addresses the question as to why the BTCC doesn't visit Anglesey or Pembrey. It's apparently all down to the infrastrucure. He likened it to expecting <insert 2 x Premiership football club names here, I can't remember> to play on a non-league ground - the grass is the same but everything else is different. Bit harsh, I thought, but that's his opinion.

He is right to a point. Although BTCC do travel with the whole setup required for a meeting but the infrastructure at the circuit would cope without upgrade/investment In fairness to Gow I think he does a better job than Palmer does with BSB. At least he will consider going to new places. And keeps his rounds in Britain, I will never forgive Palmer for removing Croft, mondello, Mallory and replacing them with bloody Assen, great track yes, but it is a British championship, not a European one.
I would love to see Mondello back as I would in BSB, both series have top Irish drivers and the sport needs to go there. It's almost embarrassing we don't go to Ireland in either series, I get why, but for Gods sake, hunker down, drop a few support series if there is not the space.
BSB dumped Croft years ago in favour of Assen, WTF. Money no doubt, but I love that track, not sure if it is still a BTCC track. And Anglesey too would be great, awesome weekender venue and it would surely benefit the local economy.
it is a superb club track and has already had money spent in the last 15 years, but this could make it a Thruxton type level, no reason why BTCC could not go there then.

Hmmm, but the Premier League clubs do play at non league grounds in the cup so it can be done. And what Gow seems to be missing the point of is that Anglesey is an awesome drivers track, with a fantastic layout and the second widest in the uk after Silverstone. It would look great on TV.
The paddock facilities are probably no worse than Croft or Knockhill but the BTCC goes theres
Drop a couple of the support races have a calendar where all the support races miss a round. The infrastructure would still be a problem with spectators attending so limit tickets to say 15000 half the normal BTCC attendance. However DON'T then do a goodwad and charge a premium! Allow the cash then to roll in allowing the circuit/local economy to benefit and re-invest so long term everything is improved to allow a full fat BTCC meeting.
