I am thinking of taking part in Sprints and Hill Climbs. From my reading of the MSUK regs it appears that, amongst other expensive items of safety equipment, I will require a helmet certified to FIA8860. These seem to start at about £1,200 and this cost will probably stop me from taking part. Does anyone have any information indicating that I have the wrong certification?

...... no. you have read something incorrectly I'm afraid. You can buy a suitable helmet for £200.

You need to buy a FIA 8859-2015 helmet. Open face ones from £150 upwards. FIA 8860 only required if you have Le Mans aspirations.
