first time at Rally Deutschland... tips?

I moved to Germany recently and would like to visit Rally Deutschland this year. This would be my first rally event. What's the best way to experience this for a couple days? Buy tickets for the official areas or just camp out along the stages? Are there campgrounds in the area? Any other suggestions?
