My annual start karting post!
Discussion
Every bloody year I think 'I really would like to do more karting' and every year I do the same - nothing.
Apart from the odd karting event I/others organise I don't do much karting at all. And yet I love it. 2 of my non petrolhead mates now do karting in the Club 72 series at Buckmore and piss me off with all their chat/enthusiasm about it ..
So, winter series needed in the South East ideally. I need a series to make me go and allow me to plan the karting without it getting hijacked by other social engagements.

Are you looking at buying your own kart or arrive and drive?
Only ones around here I know of the camberley kart club, where you would need your own kart and a kart license, or you could pay a team but that would be many £££
Or there is the one at Sandown park in Esher? Run as a championship and not horrendous money condisering kart hire etc. Seems pretty popular with some decent drivers in it.
I have looked at doing something similar myself but now racing in the C1 challenge

Camberley has a race this Saturday I think. If you were interested in the owner/driver aspect it may be good to go and have a look.
They have a winter series too.
If you were interested you'd need to pass your ARKS test (although clubs run non licenced practice sessions for non licenced), get a licence and race as a novice. As well as buying a kart obviously (or rent - Attaq motorsport attend there and can help - chat to them?). There's still a bit of time to get some seat time.
Not sure on arrive and drive.

isnt buckmore/lydd/bayford meadows south east?
Buckmore will have arrive and drive champs over the winter, Lakeside karting just over the water might, Rye's organised leagues are strong.
Covkartsport has a couple of rounds left this year at Red Lodge.
If you've done ownerdriver before you could also just hire a kart at Rye IKR, Lydd IKR. You dont need an MSA license and the costs are comparable to a club100 round.

I'm not too fussed where the circuits are but the SE would be better obviously. I'd like my own kart but one step at a time...Buckmore will have arrive and drive champs over the winter, Lakeside karting just over the water might, Rye's organised leagues are strong.

I may just call them and ask them what they have that could suit rather than ploughing through lengthy and complex websites

I'd need a kart first and judging by the visit I made on that Saturday, a massive van too! (We used to do do it all with a car or car/small trailer)They have a winter series too.

Fair do's, I chickened out of cambo at the weekend, couldn't be bothered with the rain. Cars and trailers are certainly viable but I admit I chicken out and borrow/rent a van. I may just call them and ask them what they have that could suit rather than ploughing through lengthy and complex websites
Attaq Motorsport + XCel (both on facebook) will rent you a rotax and keep you dry from the rain at Forest Edge or Cambo if you dont want to buy one yet.
I have a T5 (car can't tow anyway) but I also use it for camping but must admit I'd like a bigger van to stay in at circuits. Plenty use trailers though. The key is having an awning/easy up to make use of and they would fit in a car or trailer.
But as said, if you're interested speak to the teams above. They'll do the work. And maybe you can even have a go at camberleys winter series. It is fking cold in that dip though!
