I've acquired an mx5 i dont mind knocking about and wouldnt mind doing some sort of cone dodging motorsport , autotest or similar events?

Could anybody point me in the right direction, who to speak to, and where

Wouldn't mind a nosey at an upcoming event to see if it's for me, I'm not fussed with trackdays, I thought this might appeal.

West Midlands area

Cheers

Sounds like Autosolos would be right up your street!

Basically timed runs round a course marked with cones. Very cheap, no special kit or prep required, perfect entry level fun. All forwards, and tight enough you won’t get above 2nd gear.

Find a local motor club that runs autotests/autosolos; see http://www.gomotorsport.net/New-Find-Clubs-and-Eve...

You might find that your local regional association runs inter-club championships - in your case see https://www.awmmc.org.uk/?start=0.
