Anybody going to Brands for the DTM?

Was planning to go down on Sunday but may not be able to make it. I have two spare Sunday tickets if anybody is interested.

I know a lot of people who are not going due to the awful viewing on the new loop, I know at least 5 who said, no.

Wow 5 is a lot.

Once again yet another negative post by chunder.

Justified though as the fencing was demanded by the DTM.

And you will be spending your day googling for more bad news to share with us I guess.? Such a joy we all look forward to. Me ? I'm off to Croft's HSCC meeting but despite the sun and a lovely field of FF1600s I will try to see the fly and ignore the ointment...

You mean “owing to” not “due to”. It’s a common mistake so try not to be too hard on yourself.

No, I think you will find my English is fine actually.

Tickets are horrendously dear for such a small grid really.

But I imagine there will be thousands there oblivious to the fact they are being fleeced.

Me, retro rides gathering at Shelsley next week, 15 quid to get in, great viewing, weird and wonderful cars, about the only joy you can get cheap these days in motorsport

And any other speed hillclimb, autograss ,most club racing , some drag racing etc . I shouldn't remind you that Silverstone Classic only costs many of us 17 quid a day as I know how it irks you but hell , it's Sunday ,I can;t resist! Enjoy Shelsley - I loved it last year despite my nostalgia ticket costing me the thick end of 30 quid ....

No sure how you get a classic ticket for that much

Maybe you are in a "club"

I am - only reason I belong to the current one is to get cheap tickets, mercenary sod that I am .Not over struck on standing round in a field of identical cars talking about glove box specifications

It would be nice to watch them, but I'm not going.

What is my best choice for watching on TV? Either live or repeated?

Apart from all the moaning about ticket prices and reasons for not going, this will be my first time at Brands Hatch. Does anyone have any tips on where is good for viewing without this new fencing on the loop? I will be taking my camera.

First time i will have seen the DTM since Donington Park many years ago

I don't know how much fencing has gone up but hopefully the end of the long straight at Hawthorns is fence free.

The section round Dingle Dell ,Sheenes and Stirlings is completely no go area I believe.

Have a nice weekend.....smile

Ignore the moaners and stand 100m past apex of Paddock Hill Bend , then walk up to Druids , the just keep walking .... I went last month to Brands for the first time in 30 years and it had changed of course, but nothing like as much as I had feared . The viewing is still superb , especially if you've been to Silverstone recently ... You will love it .

There are peep holes, and camera points on the long circuit, but from the exit of Stirlings on there is a high fence, you can see past the bridge on the left hand side outside Druids, and there is a section between there and Westfield on the straight with no fencing, and a tiny area at Westfield, but thats it.

But personally, take it from someone who has been and ignore the long circuit, unless you are there for hours and fancy a walk down memory lane!

That 3 abreast on lap 25 was slightly awesome.
