Eligible Race Series Options
Discussion
I have plans to build a race car in a few years and I'm struggling to find something UK based or a European series where the car would be eligible without huge amounts of cost to compete.
There are some complications with the car's specification which are making things difficult to assess at the moment.
It will be built on an original DTM chassis from the mid 90s (an unused spare chassis) but that's all there is at the moment. It will effectively become my interpretation of the original car.
So expect to see:
Longitudinally mounted V6 (between 400-500bhp naturally aspirated)
Mid mounted 6 speed sequential box
RWD or 4WD (yet to be decided)
Double wishbone suspension with push rods - front and rear
Comprehensive aero development in keeping with the cars original aesthetics
The main restriction I'm finding in technical regulations, is around the alterations to suspension layout and pick up points.
Would the car be classed as altered in suspension layout from the original if it's a works prepared chassis that was never raced? Or would it be compared to a production chassis? Even then it would likely be an entirely new design as I have no information on the original suspension geometry.
Unfortunately it would never be eligible for historic motorsport, as the only original part would be the chassis and it has no competition history, as it was never built into a car.
All I've found so far is the European Hill Climb Championship and Time Attack Extreme Pro Class
There won't be funds for a pro driver and I can't see the car or myself being anywhere near competitive enough against near 1000bhp turbo monsters.
Suggestions and thoughts welcome....

Another option would be some form of multi class Sports/Saloon Chamionship.
