It seems the need for ear defenders at motorsport events will soon be a 'thing of the past'.

Can't help thinking some of the appeal will be lost

If it means more events and less circuits having to cut back or even close then the lack of noise is a very good thing.

Nothing good can ever come of electric rallycross.

IMG are only doing it to get manufacturers on board, as they lost a few last year

Electric rallycross cars will blow the doors of the current ones. The power and torque potentials are massive. The prototypes are already more powerful than the petrol versions.

Yeah, because they do need more power!! laughlaugh

I won't be watching, electric motorsport leaves me completely numb! I'd even go as far as saying I'd even prefer to watch pub games like snooker than that ste!

They will probably complain about all the whining. We could then say: That's how we all felt about you lot.

The noise is an intrinsic part of the motorsport experience. Look what happened when the new F1 engines came in and all the complaints.
Electric RX will be utter rubbish, along with any others that go the same way. You will still have to worry about circuits closing because who the hell will want to watch this ste.
Ever tried watching Formula E? It’s like scaletrix.
Electric is the future for sure for transport, but it will kill motorsport.

FE is the fastest growing motorsport amongst the younger generation so it's hardly going to be the end of motorsport. Rallycross is the ideal format for electric cars.

In all the years I've been involved in and a fan of motorsport people are constantly saying this and that will be the end and it never is.

I'm with you.

I was at Brands for the Historic Masters last month and the sound of the historic F1 cars was lovely. However, it brought on nostalgia rather than a wish to bring it back. The sports cars were much quieter and as much fun to watch.

I have the feeling we'll get used to the silence.

WRC is watched by nerds. Standing in Sweet Lamb with a force 7 straight off the Urals watching cars that I could not hear because of the wind in one of my strongest memories of rallying.

Abysmal. No noise and silhouette cars.
