Taking place today. First rally in England on closed public roads.

http://corbeauseatsrally.co.uk/about-the-event/

I've just attended Stage 5 (http://corbeauseatsrally.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/Wick-Road-PDF-3.pdf)

Continues through the rest of the day. £10 to park BTW, pay once and then unlimited if you go to the different location stages later in the day.

Good turn out. Great to see the cars up close (quite a varied punch ranging from old school Escorts, Imprezas (as expected), Pugs, E30 M3 and even a VW Beetle. Some proper sideways action. cool

Worth checking out if you're in the area.

I was hoping this event would go well.
I’ve searched google and fb and not seen any ‘bad’ news so hopefully it’s going ok.
It did have a few nimbys ridiculously complaining about it decimating wildlife etc. But hopefully they will be won round slightly.

I just looked at YouTube and there’s a couple of rally vids.
But there’s loads from 2 clowns who are claiming all sorts of devastation, it’s like watching a cringey Alan Partridge sketch.

Was planning n going, but would have been a very long day, hope this means we can get a few more events in other places.

This is one of the main protestors about the event - https://www.essexlive.news/news/residents-angry-mo... . She's only lived in the area 18 months and is trying to tell everyone else here how to live their lives.
She's claimed today that the cars were far too loud ( about 150 dB apparently and she may even have ruptured eardrums!)
Her and her daughter (the star of the videos) are hilarious - the daughter even asked the local district council if they had prepared for a driver using their vehicle to deliberately drive into a crowd of spectators. The mother insists there's no insurance in place to cover damage to properties, despite being given the MSA policy, also that her house is uninsurable and unsaleable because of the 1 day event.

They're the exception though - most of us locals have either been in favour of the event, or not that bothered.

There was a huge turnout at the spectator area in Bradfield today. At least 1,000 at 9am for the first stage, then 2,000 or so for the second pass and over a thousand for the final pass.
Drivers reported that they'd seen over 500 spectators on the road stages, just picnicing and watching the event. Although I doubt all were as comfortable as these ...

Was a superb day with some cracking cars really going for it. About half the entrants seemed to be Mk2 Escorts.

Nice bit of onboard footage from one stage here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Na5GSs2GcU4&t=... .

That's good to hear from a true local, luckily for the organisers it appears to of gone well.
I was looking at their facebook page last night but couldn't see all the comments?, maybe there were a few negative comments from the youtube guy that were getting deleted straight away but still counted on the comment count?.
Thankfully the nimby lady in question is making such utterly absurd claims it just ruins any argument she has against it. when she wakes up today, her house will still be worth a million pounds, the wildlife will still be there and there wont be much evidence left apart from a few skid marks.
Of course I can see some people being unhappy about it, well, the road closures anyway, but that would happen if it was a marathon or cycling event.

I think the official page requires comments to be approved by an admin before they're visible. It's worth reading the reviews on their page though.

Only sour note was that somebody threw screws all over the road on one stage. Luckily they were spotted by marshals before the cars went through.

The anti-rally nutter is now claiming that the cars were exceptionally loud (150dB at 3 metres!) . It's hilarious really...

I read of plenty of rally organisers planning on linking offroad stages via ultra short public sections, I didn't know there was a full event already. Impressive.

Odd to be running one somewhere relatively populated but I hope it's the first of many.

Tendring was a pretty sensible choice - plenty of suitable roads for the rally itself, but there are also plenty of alternative routes between villages available for use.

The road stages were all short - only about 5 miles each - mainly to ensure the event was relatively easy to manage and didn't inconvenience too many residents.

The feedback has been incredibly positive from virtually all locals, especially those who say they previously had no interest in any sort of motorsport.
