Can’t beli there isn’t a thread for this already but there is now. It’s finally back after a long winter, new cars, drivers and liveries as always. Although after qualifying there is one consistent from last season, Plato appears to have gone missing yet again...

Quali results.

As always full coverage on ITV4 all day, can’t wait for the first race to begin.

BTCC race times
Race 1 - 11:35
Race 2 - 14:25
Race 3 - 17:15

I was just this minute looking for this thread.
I saw the q list earlier and wondered what excuse JP will have for that.

Was about to add ,before my phone went flat ,it would have been interesting to see Cammish start from pole and to see

if he could keep the lead in his "rookie" race.

BTCC site mentions Goff could be in for a champion push this year ,well Cammish probably is too after grabbing pole but then

making a pits cock up.

If Cammish could finish top 5 I’d say that’s as good a debut as you could hope for, anything else will be a nice bonus. Goff has the car to push for the title this year let’s face it, it’s already won titles and with having the Neil Brown engine in it it’s going to be a hard package to beat.

I'm off to Brands today for some BTCC action smile I was hoping Ash Sutton would be fighting for a second championship this year but from what I've heard BMR's serious lack of funds is going to hinder them this season which is a big shame.

Fair play to Jack Goff for getting pole and if he can get a good start I reckon he can pull a gap and disappear. Tordoff has shown that he is very quick in both front and rear wheel drive and if he can stay focussed I reckon he'll be a strong contender again.

Other than must have been dog slow, does anyone know why Plato is close to the back?

Did Alan Gow just suggest hybrids in the future? I thought the idea was to keep costs down.

Did Rob Austin just say that the car that’s been tested all winter is 3 days old?

I wonder what the outcome of that would have been if Neal had lifted off, just a bit

Much the same, as Ingram hit him from behind as it was. Just bunched up cars.

Doesn't help him when the usual frustrating displays of bumper car driving has started already.

Im baffled, Proctor is on the outside of the corner so the BTC Norlin car decides to just literally drive through him as if hes not there.

Think Nash clipped the inside kerb and lost control.

Good first race that, nice start to the weekend for the BMW’s, can see then bagging a 1-2 in Race 2 if it’s still damp. They rocketed off the line at the start!

Good to see the BTCC back.

However, small point - is it really necessary to have 1hr 35mins of TV coverage BEFORE the first race gets going?

Seems a bit excessive.

Necessary? No. But you don’t have to start watching until closer to start of the race.
At the start of the season it’s nice to have a review of teams, drivers, rule changes etc. Sure, you can look it up online, but what harm is there in covering it in the program?
Personally I like the fact that ITV4 dedicate about 8 hours to a single motorsport program, covering every round of the BTCC season. It’s ITV4. It’s not like they’ed be broadcasting something more worthwhile on a Sunday morning.

I like the build up but I estimate 15mins of that 35mins you refer to is adverts...
