Could't find a thread for this years championship so here goes.

There been a lot written and said that the championship was on a downer compared to a few years ago but it looks like its bouncing back with a vengence this year.

Entry list below:

On Thursday it was the annual media day at Donington Park and it was great to see the turn out with the teams and cars looking brilliant. Here's my vid from the test if anyone interested:

A full grid certainly, which is good to see, but I find it odd that there is not one Ferrari, Porsche (or Corvette for that matter) on the entry list.

I'm not a Ferrari or Porsche fan at all, way too mainstream for me, but that's kind of my point. They are arguably the two biggest names ever in the world of GT cars and their absence here cannot be good for the spectator figures, either at track or on telly.

Any particular reason for this?

Graham Davidson and Jetstream Motorsport have stepped up to the championship after winning the GT cup last year.

Looking forward to our trip to Oulton Easter Weekend. Agree it would be nice to see a Ferrari or two.

I live about 200 yards from Lodge Corner so I will saunter over, especially as that nice Mr Palmer gives us villagers free circuit passes....smile

Not on a downer at all - in fact as early as Autosport I heard of disappointed drivers being turned away because they were full. The new GT4 cars have helped but I’m afraid it’s becoming an even more expensive championship to race in.

Cheers.

Can make silverstone between holidays, so that'll be fun.

I'm going to the spa one (not 24 hour) - first time to Spa and the GT championship (usually done touring cars) - if I like it may book when I get back to see brands hatch first weekend in august.

gazza, you WILL like them round Spa, anything round Spa is to be liked and this is a great field. So get Brands booked already!

The Spa round is a great one and there are always a few Europeans that come out to play.

so with going to spa (weekend before the 24 hours race).

Looking at the timetable looks like I will be at Spa just for the sunday - the saturday is mainly qualifying, there seems to be no ticket prices - so i assume free? Parking seems to be 6.50 euros if booked in advance. Thats all I can book.

So looks like our getting up very early for the tunnel on friday was a bit of a waste - but I guess we could pop over to germany for a quick autobahn blast (getting tunnel at 9:20 I think it is on friday). Google seems to say be in liege (where we are staying) by about 2 (excluding autobahn run).

Where is the nearest autobahn - anyone know?

At this rate I expect maybe a few beers on friday so got saturday for a look round liege - looks like not much to see - then sunday race day pretty much all day, monday leave to come home (with stop over for wine etc - good job I have a estate).

Well a superb win for one of our own! Graham Davidson (aka Hollowpockets) took the British GT win in his Aston GT3 with Max Martin as his partner.

Hugely proud of his performance as he’s one of my best friends so i’ve shared the highs and lows of the season with him. Hopefully he can now go on to add a few more this season and finish on a high note at Donington in Sept.

Ended up talking to Graham during the photo setup on the grid at Silverstone last month and only put two and two together half way through chatting to him. Also hadn't realised it was that Jetstream until then either. My friend/colleague Chapppers spoke with Graham a few times back when he also had a Noble, and I remember hearing, by proxy, about his exploits tuning and racing the Noble he had then. Well done to all involved.

It was a crazy race, and for us (I was on the radios for the 61 GT4 Aston) fairly disappointing. We had two tyre failures which has literally never happened. No weird setup or tyre pressures or anything....can only think the specific batch of Pirelli's was different in some way as the car we were running in the Euro GT4 race had no such issue.

Some interesting in car footage from Grahams car after the re-start. He could see nothing through the oil dry that was picked-up by the car in front.

Ian,

Wasn’t it just!! He did bloody well to keep on the circuit let alone at a decent pace. Very dangerous situation.
