Hi,

Looking at something to do with friends in 2018 and thinking endurance karting is an idea - probably not looking to win.. just something to do bi-monthly with maximum kart time.

From my research, a 4-stroke is preferable due to low maintenance, and possibly a pro-kart. Ebay has some..

Can anyone advise where to find more information on endurance racing? Listing of events etc. it appears to be club or track specific.

Can anyone advise on what kart could be best for beginners looking for a laugh etc.

Should we be looking at 2nd hand packages?

Manchester based but willing to travel - couple of hours at most (Birmingham, Liverpool, Sheffield, Leeds, etc).

Thanks in advance.

Questions still stand.

MSA / ABKC doesnt really have a lot to do with endurance side of things. there are no real endurance clubs, just companies/promotions that run events. the 2 that do so nationally are

http://www.bpeckarting.co.uk/ - these guys run prokarts with "extremes" sealed gx200 engines.

and

http://www.oekc.co.uk/ - these guys run 2 stroke karts (rotax max's mainly) but do run a promax class using junior rotax engines on senior karts to keep the costs down, it can be quite expensive though.

Circuit specific

Wigan (three sisters) is near you, there's an endurance there (run to bpec reg's) the 2018 dates are listed here :

http://www.karting.co.uk/Notice/Message.asp?FID=3&...

London way there's www.rhpk.co.uk at Rye : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AiXbnzS3ENw - prokarts again but gx160's to MSA spec.

then there's some more circuit specific stuff Dorset/Wales way but that's miles away from you, All of those above have facebook groups that are fairly easy to find (apart from 3sisters!! it's called 3s something)

Kart wise 2nd hand market is good at the minute due to end of season sales, but they're selling on facebook (theres a uk prokart group), not ebay, ebay's usually reserved for junk. Chassis wise 7kart/MSKart/Wright/Haase will all do a job (plus you'd be able to sell them afterwards!!), but dont jump in until you've been along to a track and talked to a few people.

All of those series will have people who rent karts out, the organisers can recomend someone and they'll also help you with any questions. But remember, everyone will poopoo every other race series/chassis/engine that they're not doing, it's motorsport afterall.

Good luck.

Start off with BPEC.

If cost is a consideration, you could go for something cheaper (and rental!), like covkartsport or similar.

http://www.24hourkarting.co.uk/

I've done the Teesside 24hrs a couple of times. It's a great event but hard work. We hired a kart and I think it cost us £200 each for four people all in. There were lots of private karts entered also. August bank holiday.
