I know this series is coming to the UK next year and have looked at some of the press releases. Having never watched it, don't know if the international series is shown on TV at all? Was wondering how it compares to the BTCC, looking at the car specs they seem to be similar, but understood the TCR cars are more of an off the shelf product? Cost wise is it meant to be cheaper? Also how will it work with two similar series in the UK, is it likely to attract teams who may be in the BTCC at the moment. Any thoughts?
for TCR basically think GT3/4 business model for touring car.
As you said, already they race all over the place, but I cant help but think the uk motorsport industry will cock it up looking for a quick buck and price it out of the range of guys stepping up from VWCup, Tiegwa etc etc, these things shouldnt cost more to run than a British GT car or International TCR effort.
Will any of the BTCC package teams (Hard/Speedworks/etc) run an effort and risk the wrath of The Gow ?

Thanks, will be interesting to see how it compares to the BTCC, lap times, how close the racing is etc. It looks like all the cars are FWD, is this a regulation or just the fact no one has developed a RWD car?
I believe the rules specifically state the car must be FWD. To expand on earlier comments about regulation, its worth mentioning development is cost capped and the cars are performance balanced internationally. So in theory its down to the drivers.
If the fact that the BTCC ignores the MSA blue book is the turn on for that championship (IE you like banger racing and soap opera drama) you may find TCR a little flat.
The British series has supposedly had interest from 50 teams/drivers. They're talking about running heats before qualifying!

A few BTCC teams have showed interest in TCR series ,without looking them up ,can't remember which ones.
Possibly Motorbase and Hard ?
I think Hard have a couple of TCR cars already, probably Golf's. I'd be surprised if they didn't run their 'swipe card here' business model for drivers in TCRPossibly Motorbase and Hard ?

Hard dont have any tcr cars the vw golf they run are converted road cars. The only one to have one atm is Stewart lines a seat leon there are also a few tcr already competing in various uk championship josh files and someone up in Scotland.
Josh Files has won TCR Germany in 2016 & 2017 as well as TCR Middle East in 2017, never raced a TCR car in the U.K. The other car belongs to Finlay Crocker from Scotland and has raced it in TCR Germany and TCR Italy as well as a few races at Knockhill.I run Leon Owners Club UK, have travelled with SEAT Sport for last 2-3 years to numerous rounds of their SEAT Leon Europcup which was a development series for their Leon TCR car.
Been out in a few Leon Cup Racers as well.
A friend of mine raced in Leon Eurocup and TCR Germany this season (Alex Morgan), hoping he can make it into TCR UK next year.
The Golf TCR and TT TCR was built/developed by SEAT Sport along with the Leon. Jordi Gene did the development work.
Hyundai TCR car looks mean.

Does anyone have an idea of how fast these cars are compared to a BTCC car, or something else which you can compare it to in the UK?
I'm assuming they're a lot slower?
Not massively. BTCC are c.350bhp (some more than others after boost allowance..) and TCR are around 300bhp.I'm assuming they're a lot slower?
