Discussion
Was just about to start a thread dam you beat me. Not surprised with the revolving door at team hard but Michael caine is a surprise. Though Daniel Lloyd at eurotech is a surprise what a shame to a very quick driver who has the talent to be a race winner.
As the 3rd eurotech license is loaned that goes back to toca which im guessing will be kept for next year.

Smiley showed promise so it's a shame to see him run into trouble financing the drive - when you have the likes of Howard and Lines out there.
This is bad for the sport. Not saying this is what happened with the above quoted, but the BTCC is very expensive, even though NGTC was hailed as 'keeping costs realistic and under control'.
A driver approaches 'Team A': 'How much for a full season seat this year?'
'£xxxxxx,' is the reply.
Finding that a bit steep (although Team A's costings are very realistic), the driver approaches 'Team B':
'How much for a full season seat this year? I've got £xxx.'
The Team B 'Team Principal' fully realises that £xxx is not enough for a full season but he needs the £xxx. Thus the driver joins Team B.
Half way through the season the driver is told: 'Sorry, £xxx wasn't enough. We now need more £xxx. If you can't raise it, we'll have to find someone else.'
So the driver is out on his arse. And his loyal sponsors who have supported him over the years of building up to the BTCC? And who have paid him a full season of sponsorship based on him being on ITV, being mentioned constantly in all the BTCC hype, and fully expected him to complete a full season?
They will be very disgruntled, with the driver, with the team, but more importantly, with the BTCC. Having had their fingers burned, they'll certainly think again about BTCC sponsorship.
And it's not the driver's fault.
The BTCC really have to address this, it happening every season now.

Didn't know about Lloyd's exit, shame,he was quick and pulled Eurotech way up the grid.
Same here - pretty surprised at that one tbh. In the races he'd been in he showed promise (apart from possibly being a bit naïve with the start at Croft) and, as you say, put Eurotech further up the grid than they normally were.Edited by AlexRS2782 on Friday 29th July 01:01

Surely there is some kind of contract breach in there?Half way through the season the driver is told: 'Sorry, £xxx wasn't enough. We now need more £xxx. If you can't raise it, we'll have to find someone else.'

Anyway, I've been looking forward to BTCC's return far more than whatever F1 race is happening this weekend.

I'm surprised Jeff Smith hasn't at least loaned him the money to carry on as he's been dragging that car up the grid at every race, it's good for him and good for Eurotech, plus Smith isn't short of the cash to help a young driver out and give him that change even if it's costs just to cover an extra round.
