Does anyone know the full story?
We've just received a communication from the HSCC informing us that tyre selection is going to be free for the foreseeable future due to Dunlop failing to supply.
its not exactly a new issue. we've been having problems since the factory in the uk closed last year.. the basic story is dunlop are sWe've just received a communication from the HSCC informing us that tyre selection is going to be free for the foreseeable future due to Dunlop failing to supply.

we've also had a big difference in performance and tyre life between tyres..
one of our suppliers will also no longer supply them as the service is so crap...
My understanding us that Dunlop used to lease their site in the UK that made all their race and rally tyres. The freeholder was Jaguar Land Rover who decided that they needed the site to expand their own activities.
Dunlop relocated to Portugal and since then it's been a disaster with quality control issues and lack of supply.
To be honest I think everyone should boycott buying all Dunlop and Goodyear tyres (same group) in protest at poor service.
I certainly won't be buying Direzzas for my 944 nor any of their products for my road cars in the foreseeable future.

What a shame from such a historic name as Dunlop.
I’d have no problem boycotting Goodyear and Dunlop road tyres (never been blown away by either), but we have eight hundred quid’s worth of 5.25 section ‘L’ CR65s and now the club is suggesting the possibility of opening up the tyre regs to other manufacturers…

I can't find any mention of it. Is for all series?

Based on the somewhat vague e-mail from Grahame I deduce that it effects only Guards Trophy, and probably only the sports racers within the Guards Trophy judging by the fact that the tyres for our Elan appear to be readily available.I can't find any mention of it. Is for all series?
The scope and duration of the change is not confirmed in the e-mail, and nor is the notice period with which it could be implemented, which has me a little worried- While our tyres appear to be in good supply, what’s to stop a competitor rocking up with a much faster tyre citing ‘Dunlop supply problems’?

Ok ta. If this becomes widespread it's going to cause problems. Everyone's set up for Dunlops. I should say that in the past, panic buying has been a problem so to anybody reading this may I just add... Don't be part of the problem!
We have a half worn set on the car and a new set in the trailer. That should do us for 2016. My main fear was that a change in regs could force us to change tyres / setup as you say CorporalSparrow.
