Seeing as BTCC gets a thread, and individual WRC events get one, the BRC should get one too.

The new, improved BRC gets relaunched for 2016 allowing R5 cars as the headline act.
7 rounds a mixture of gravel & Tarmac.

All kicks off tonight with the Mid Wales Stages; 2 stages HaftenSweetlamb and Myherin ( featuring Pikes Peak hairpins); continues tomorrow with 4 more stages - giving a grand total of 70 stage miles.......

Such a shame it won't include the Jim Clark

Can't see any mention of TV coverage on the website?

It's not really a surprise that event isn't included.

TV coverage is 30 mins on Channel 4 at 7:30 on the Saturday morning following each event - followed by a 1 hour show on BTSport.......

Elfyn is on top form tonight.

Sad to hear Chris Harris has had issues. Can they restart tomorrow?

I had been intending to attend the Riponian here in N Yorks - until I heard that of the 7 stages only one was available for spectating and that was on from 'allocated enclosures ' only. So f**k that- that's the end of my rallying after 40 odd years . Cheers MSA ... just wonder who you now expect to support noisy motorsport in a National Park if you prevent its supporters from attending ?

Seen some decent photos from good spots on the Riponian, so I don't think was all bad.

...there were two areas and views may have been great. But I like finding my own spot , moving around and so on- used to walk miles in Dalby, far away from most spectators and choosing the best views. Sorry but that's the end for me .

Surely after 40 years you should know your way around especially if the Riponian is your local event.

Access to all the stages was easy enough if you knew where to go.

Spectator info was for 1 stage; and organisers don't want speccies at the other stages due to PR issues.

It isn't PR - that isn't the real problem at all (even though it can be on some stages like Boltby ). What is the problem- or so I am told by organisers - is that unrestricted access is now verboten by MSA and controlled enclosures are mandatory . And yes- I do know my way around, it is surprising what you come across on a country walk ....

But the fact that many don't know the alternatives doesn't bode well for the future and I resent the fact that my viewing has to be clandestine . What is also sad is that I would fully understand all public access being banned thanks to the disgusting behaviour of a few- last rally I attended I collected two big bags of rubbish and saw saplings snapped off so some knuckle dragger could get a better view

It's not litter or the countryside code that's the issue.

It's people being silly in their viewing and too many of them getting killed. It's not fair on the competitors or the organisers to drag them through the courts because somebody decides to sit in a deckchair in a dangerous spot, and a car collides with them. If the sport had not changed how spectators were handled it faced being shut down completely. Deliberately standing outside of the designate places could still see the sport shut down if many people do it.

The few are spoiling it for the many, nothing else to it as far as I can see. Litter is and always has been an issue on events. I've even hung a black bag off the back of the car for litter when I'm close to spectator areas, and yet I'll usually be picking the litter up from everywhere else other than just tying a full bag up.

Even on Wales Rally where skips were put in at the top of car park areas for rubbish, the skips were left virtually empty and bags of rubbish were lent against the skip or the portaloos.

With regards to being penned in and ruining your decades of enjoyment, all I can suggest is do as you've already been, get away from the mass areas to somewhere quieter. with the state rallying is in you're unlikely to encounter a marshal if events this year so far are anything to go by! Just be smart about it. If a jobsworth comes up and asks you to move on then take it on the chin and move. there's no point arguing with them as they'll only bring you down to their level of stupidity

OK so a marshal is a jobsworth now. Marshals are tasked with a task, and if that task is to say to you sorry but you can't stand there, please explain why that is being a jobsworth?

99% of marshals are fine - I used to be one myself for many years . The odd one can grate but without volunteers we wouldn't have much to watch would we?

As an active marshal I like to think me calling some 'Jobsworths' is pretty accurate. I quite possibly have been called the same.

Late last year I was on a junction at on a single venue event. There was a No Spectator area designated close by and despite my advice to the fact, there was simply nothing I could to stop the flock of people passing me to get to the area.
A 'senior official' was present at the location and could also do nothing to stop them being there.

Spectator safety came through for the opening loop, stopped at the location, advised everyone that they were in an unauthorised area and drove off, seeing that the lone marshal was being quickly over run, I went down there with another in my group and got everyone that wasn't up on the banking to stand up there. The event passed without a hitch at the location and not once after that did any official car stop to threaten the rally being stopped, even with people all over the place.

yes

Most marshalls are good, but you do get the odd power-tripping idiot.

Generally I'll respect their requests even if they're obviously wrong because I know that events won't happen without the volunteers, I can only remember one occasion where a marshall was so bad (seemed like they had never even seen a rally let alone marshalled before) that I completely ignored them and just walked past and carried on.

I really enjoyed the event! Great stages, company, action and pleasantly surprised by the pace of the junior drivers in the Fiestas, Twingo and Adams. Got to say the Adam looks a funny car, but it makes a great noise and the drivers were properly on it! Also on it was Evans, on stage 6 his speed could only be described with expletives it was so much more than anyone else's!

Must say I just got round to watching the highlight program on BT Sport, it was certainly well done. Really enjoyable to watch!
