A couple of years ago Lotus Cars launched a formula 1-like car which customers could use in a similar way to the FXX series of Ferraris:

They were planning to sell 25 of them at about $1M.

There's no REAL detail about the engine or transmission, just that it's a Cosworth-developed V8 with a 6-speed gearbox. Was the engine based on something else? Who did the gearbox?

Does anyone know any more actual facts about this, especially technical?

Thanks in advance...

I seem to remember that there was a section on Top Gear about it, with I think Jean Alesi? That might have some more information (probably not I know).

Further research and input revealed the engine was based on the Cosworth XG Indy engine, and the gearbox was Riccardo.

IIRC they sold one or two under Bahar's regime, I'm not sure if they were shipped.

Also remember the huge plume of blue smoke that they kicked out every time on startup! Sounded great when it was running though.
