RE: Spa Update

Spa Update
Hansgerd Bramann reports: The afternoon session didn't go quite so well. Martin had big trouble at La Source while braking into the hairpin, the brakes locked. The crew tried to fix the problem but it re-occured during the first qualifying in the evening. Still, they managed a 02:28+ which secured the 2nd place in class. However, that time is 12 seconds slower than in 2000 which did come as a surprise. The pole Lister lapped at 02:12+.
Discussion
More news from the track, Dominiek is smiling and the team seems confident. During the night qualifying they put the car on first place in class and 25th overall. Despite the fast time the FIA didn't allow them to compete in the super pole qualifying. So, the Cerbera didn't turn a wheel today. Tomorrow, the BMS Scuderia Italia Ferrari 550 will start from pole. At the moment it's clowdy with light rain and the forecast says it partly clowdy and sunny over the weekend.
The "one make" class was the only one not allowed to take part in the Super Pole; and they still don't know why they are running in that class (seems like someone in the FIA or SRO or RACB or whereever got the Cerbera mixed up with the Tuscan...). According to Rob Barff, "they apologised". Heartwarming. Anyway, I think if the TVR makes it to the finish it will win the 1M class no matter what so we should compare its performance with that of the N-GTs.

Spent much of the weekend in and out of the TVR pit - What a Brilliant Effort!
All three drivers, Dominiek and all of the crew were just awesome.
And on the way home, totally knackered after doing the whole race for dsc with no sleep found myself in the queue for passport control at Dover next to your very own PetrolTed! Now that is spooky - We went to Spa, He went to the 'Ring and yet we end up 5 feet away from each other at Dover!!!

A potentially defining moment in TVR's brief motorsport history. A truly magnificent event at easily "the best track in the world" (not just one of them Graham) and feel truly privileged to have been able to say I was there.
Definitely worthy of a full write-up Ted, this is some story. Just some highlights - Barffy P3 overall in the wet on Thursday night ! - the first time Simon had driven in the dark or for an endurance stint he was as reliable as something German (even if he does look 14) - and of course as a finale the fat/old/bald/slow one in tears at the end with Michelle, showing he is human and exactly what this did mean !
Special thanks & congratulations need to go to the Rollcentre & TVR Factory boys who worked together like a dream (plus that quiet, shrewd and V. important Steve character from the Eclipse team ! and overall Maitre D Colin Brunton) they were magnificent - I'm sure the full story will emerge over time, but beside a niggling electrical problem on the wiring loom which the team ended changing in entirety(unbelievably professional) - ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WENT WRONG.....ON A TVR (and a Sp6 at that) !!
This is the basis upon which dreams like Le Mans are made....I hope this one makes it to reality.
(PS - special thanks to the lovely waffle lady in the paddock who kept me going for 23h 40m without sleep)
