I do like a moist Ring!

Didn't see a Manta though frown
Unfortunately no Manta this year - appears it was lost to a garage fire frown

Owner is driving some sort of Cupra thing this year!
The fire was a couple of years ago. The Manta is still taking part in the Classic support race.

Can confirm, I'm here at Nords watching the race.

Got some pictures yesterday too...

Some specs i found out talking to the team.
Car runs a 1800cc 16v engine, making 250 bhp, and has a modifiled volvo axle to run more camber.
They even have ABS on the car stolen from a BMW

Ah, you lucky bugger smile I love the atmosphere there. Not possible for me to make it down there this year, so I'm very grateful for the excellent live broadcasts on YT.

Lovely to see the Manta in fine fettle, nice pics. Have a great weekend smile

Edit: just noticed that you own a Manta - does it have a thread in Readers' Cars?

Apparently he blasted through 6 marshal-posts that were under the code 60, the disqualification (according to Timing71) stated that he reached 145 km/h yikes Unforgivable really, imagine if he'd hit a marshal or emergency vehicle. The live race chat made for interesting reading yesterday, some of his "fans" attempting to brush it off and saying that the penalty was too harsh rolleyes

I do wonder if Bilstein will give him the boot now he's no longer eligible to race on the track where every race in the series takes place?
yeah, i’m a fan of Steve myself, I watch a fair bit of their content and have been following him and Jimmy quite keenly on their ventures into real racing.

I am however also marshal, so it’s disappointing to say the least that he’s done what he’s done. That sort of speed through a code 60 is unforgivable really, hence the harshness of the penalty. I believe the punishments for code 60 infringements there run in tiers, with the 4th and harshest tier being an over speed of >60km/h. He was easily doing that and then some as you say!

Also the Youngtimers classic race, starting in 5 minutes
Some cars you just don’t see anymore in that race

Imp, Beta Monte Carlo, Lada, Renault 16 (or 14?) Alfasud, Alfa 75

Plus every flavour of up to 90s 911, Golf and Polo

Wonderful stuff

Yeah, I really like him too - he's the antithesis of the shouty youtube stereotype, such a nice bloke.

Turns out the infringement was in the dark too, 22.39, so I imagine he received the biggest bking possible from the race director.

A little more info here.

The above notwithstanding, I'm gutted for him.

Anyone know what happened to Huff in the classic race? Run out of fuel?

So BMW have been massively fast all week

BOP Decision, add yet more weight and reduce the restrictor on the 911s

Very odd

That explains it, just watching the BMW eat up the field after the wrong tyre choice and straight away thought got to be a poor BOP decision.

Tricky mixed conditions to start the race in.

Nightmare job for the commentators to keep up with what’s going on 3 groups of starters and different tyre choices hard to work out what’s going on across the huge field.

Dan Harper on an absolute mission - could be the car but still mega impressive to be threading through the slower classes as he is!

Even if they have gotten the Bop wrong on the BMW Dan Harper has been impressive with his overtakes.

It certainly looked like it, but the commentators weren't sure either. Keep an eye on dailysportscar.com, they'll have the results up soon.

Really don't get the BOP decision this morning.

Hopefully the BMW's aren't going to drive off into the distance...

Oh, he’s really quick, but the BMWs have benefitted hugely from an advantageous BOP

That Cayman driver is going to be in big trouble. Wouldn't surprise me if they get their Ring Permit removed.

Aye, they do make some weird BOP decisions sometimes. I seem to remember that they buffed the 911s in the same way back in 2021, it made them nigh-on invincible.
