Start line visibility - 10 car lengths or so? Not too sure you can see flags being waved in these conditions, nor that the marshals can see each other.

Don't forget that camera not at ground level.

So how many do you want hurt to entertain you.....The Eifel are mountains, you don't mess around with mountains.
I said this is a farce, not that they should restart.

I don’t understand the view that not running a 24 hour race is fine because it never happens anyway. If you can’t run a 24 hour race at this time of year because of the weather then move the race!

I definitely won’t be tuning in to watch the “Nurburgring more than likely not 24 hours but we’ll try out best” next year.

It’s incredibly unfortunate for those fans but it’s the risk of the ‘ring…

I’m sure lots of us have done weekends away for driving there and have come up against wether like this. Back in the day they used to just send you out on TF with it like this-I remover it being clear through Teirgarten, coming round T13 and it being like this all the way until coming out above Adenauer eek

It is the Eifel region. It doesn't matter what time of the year the race happens. The weather will throw something at you.

Information from the race management:
The 10-minute sign will be shown at 1:20 p.m. Five formation laps will then begin at 1:30 p.m. This means that at least all drivers have the opportunity to complete the minimum number of laps. If it clears up during these five laps, the race will then be allowed to begin. Otherwise, the race will be waved off.

Well we have something, five formation laps starting at 13:30.

How long will five formation laps take, at least an hour?

Why must a 24 hour race run to its full time? other races, regardless of being defined by time or number of laps get red flagged if there is a bad incident/track issue or indeed, weather.

Weird viewpoint to take.

So they're just running five laps behind the safety car to get the leader to the minimum 50 laps required to call it a result.

Weather 1-0 Racing

Annoying for the fans, but the same geography that makes this such a wonderful place to race, also comes with more than its fair share of adverse conditions.

I don’t envy the RD and race control on a day like this. Yes it’s going to upset everyone, but the safety of people is paramount and the rules are all written in blood.

Oh wow, that’s a total farce if they’re just doing it to make up the minimum number of laps for a full result.

Yeah, that would never happen in F1... hehe

At least they have had some racing to justify the result, and they can of course restart the race properly if they think it cleared up enough within those five laps, which will take around an hour.

And I imagine if they cancelled the event with no winner you'd say the same? So what should they do?

For future races could you change the regs so you have full race pace in the non fog areas and then the code 60 in the fog sections?

The issue is the medical helicopter.

19’ for the first lap behind the safety car, so four more at this pace will take us to 15:25.

A massive under water Volcano erupted in Jan 22, in Tonga the largest ever recorded, the shock wave went round the World twice....it increased water vapour in the upper atmosphere by between 10 to 20 % ....the eruption was on a par with Krakatoa ......the Northern Hemisphere is now suffering the after effects....this constant rain .

Ps this is not fog at the Ring, it is almost certainly cloud, so it will more than likely not clear....unfortunately......
