Taimar Turbo for sale in US
Discussion
I have been given an opportunity to acquire a car I am interested in, but it is being offered in a package from a collector. The car is a 1977 TVR Taimar Turbo. I am looking for a resource to tell me what this car is worth. If I acquired the set, I would turn around and sell the TVR. This particular car was the New York show car and is the only left-hand drive Taimar Turbo in the USA. Kept in impounded storage for nearly 20 years, the mileage is just 1783 from new. A total of 395 Taimar’s were built over the 4 year, 1976 to 1979 period. Of this number, 30 were turbocharged models. Of these 30 cars, only 3 were left hand drive. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Additionally, if there are are serious buyers, the car would be for sale.
The value of the car depends on it's condition, both mechanically and cosmetically.
The problem with this particular Taimar Turbo is that being the only one in the USA, spares will be a problem. If it's good and runs well, must be worth $8K for starters on eBay if no one else wants it.

I would echo "Terminator's" comments. The value of it in the marketplace would be predicated on its condition. Quite obviously, with such low mileage and history of storage over the years, one would want to seriously think about components that might need replacing if the car were to be driven, and not just
a museum piece. Spares should be available through UK sources for the turbo/engine bits. Other parts could be sourced in either the US, Canada or the UK.
The last time this car was for sale the price was
fairly steep, in relation to regular Taimars. But it would help to know more specific information about the
actual condition of the car in order to make any
reasonably educated guess about approximate value.
If you put it on the market, you can advertise in the TVR Times, the newsletter of the TVR Car Club North America.
