TVR Name Recognition
Discussion
With the new Tuscan S being advertised for sale on eBay in Florida, one has to wonder if the purchaser of this car will help increase the name identification of TVR in the US.
Today, I was gassing up my Taimar V8 when a fellow walked over with a silly grin on his face and said:
"I had to come over and see what it(the car) was."
Then, the regular barrage of questions started:
What is it?
A TVR.
A T-B-R???
No...a T-V-R...
What is THAT?
It's what you are looking at!!!
But what is it? (apparently meaning Who Makes it?)
It's a limited production, handmade sportscar built in England.
How long have they been around(the company)?
As long as Ferrari.
Well, it's BEAUTIFUL!!!(first intelligent comment out of his mouth!)
Thank you.
(and then he stood quietly, still with that silly grin on his face, as I fired it up and roared off into the distance.
Will those of us here in the States ever get past that regular line of questions from the uninformed???
I wonder

I couldn't see the Tuscan S in ebay, just a Griff and a 280. (Thursday evening)
I assume it was ebay motors!
Sold already? maybe withdrawn.
I usually get "but who makes it" after saying it's a TVR, I suppose that's the price one pays for living in Jersey.
I actually had someone drive past my house followed by hard braking a few minutes later a young guy walks up and said "Yep, I thought it was", he was a race wrench (well learning),he knew about the other models too.
I don't think that'll happen too often esp as I live on a road with virtually no through traffic.

My son and I drove our 2500 in the local 4th of July parade and the car really attracted a crowd (even though the paint is a bit, ahem, tired). There were quite a few guesses as to the make: Volvo, Datsun, Griffith, Triumph, Ferrari....only one TVR.
Sounds like my usual approach when my car is covered and in my garage and someone ask's 'what's under the cover"? Reply "are you farmilar with vintage Ferrari's" You should see the look on their face's. I then slowly remove the cover and tell them that anyone who can afford to own a vintage Ferrari certainly doesen't live in my part of town. Then I explain with great pride the TVR story to them. If you don't give details they just wander off mumbeling 'I knew it was a Triumph/MG/Fiat/Datsun.........
