Why not! Tuscan in US?
Discussion
OK, so the Gumball3000 is re-tracing the infamous cannonball run next year.
They have every Car imaginable in the rally but no TVR
Being willing to give it a go in a Tuscan speed 6,
I am faced with the same old problem of getting a Tiv into the US, legality etc.
I reckon I may be wasting my time and not wishing to go over a well done topic
has anyone been succesful with bring a car into the states (13 of them actually) for a 2 week period?
Any advise on who to this off officially in the US?

What you need is someone who lives in the US, but is not a permanent resident. They can then import the car on a HS7 Car Visa, which allows the car (without ANY modifications, or emissions B.S) to be driven for a year in the U.S. Have a look at www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/rules/import.
Nige.
Waiting for someone to employ me in the states, so I can import a TVR.
BTW: TVR managed it for Swordfish.

Well I'm here in NYC - British, non-permanent resident-alien and if there's anyone on the East Coast that is desparate to own a TVR under the HS-7 regulation, I'm sure I could be persuaded to effect a transaction.
My dealer back in the UK would happily source a LHD model (subject to availability) and ship from Southampton to NYC.
email me if you're interested.

Waiting to find an employer in England to hire an American as a junior accountant apprentice, so I can enjoy the still prestine fields of TVR and Loti. An F1 or WRC team would do just fine.
FaisalKhan, I'm sorry I'm always bugging you about the details of importing cars I'm sure if I just sat down and did my homework I could figure it out.
But how does the canadian part of the fiasco work. Does Canada have paper work you fill out? Is it a matter of driving to Canada, spend a week there, paper work, then drive back to US and fill out a new H-7 or something then Viola, cerby's legit for another year?

PS www.evolutionimports.net This company imports Mitsu's Evo 6.5 and 7. They claim to "legalize" them for the US streets. This is the site I meant to show you earlier not the one that is shuttered.

Well, Well apparently it is possible, here is what I have been advised recently.....
"due to the fact that all cars being imported (ie
Shipped) to the USA for the rally will have a return ticket then ALL requirements for US road regulations are not necessary.
Because the cars are not for permanent US import and are just there for
'personal use' whilst on holiday/rally then there are no regulations to
pass."
This 'rally' is a two week effort max so I don't know what the limits of a 'holiday' are with regard to this rule. Anybody come across this before?

Hi,
A Red Rose Tuscan has been shipped out to NY for this years Gumball.
The car was serviced, full checks, the factory was told but as the race is illegal will not have anything to do with the car.
The car & driver are from Rep of Ireland and he told me that there was 1 other TVR taking part in this years race.
The car will be in the USA for 3 months total, then back to Ireland.
Watch the roads you never know you just may see it passing by.

Hi,
I was told late on this afternoon that the Tuscan has cleared customs in Newark and is ready to be picked up tomorrow morning, so fingers crossed a Tuscan will be on the road in the US very soon.......
I will try and post some pickies of the event on the following website, http://photos.yahoo.com/seancullinan.
One or two others are doing the same, their details can be found at the gumball3000 website under their message centre, it's a fairly slow service so be patient with it.
The Tuscan will be in NY until Thursday evening, all of the cars will be on display either outside the Plaza hotel at south central park/5th Av or outside the Rockfeller center, the details that I have are very sketchy due to fairly tight security.
Colin, sorry for not getting back to you earlier, looking forward to meeting up in the summer at some stage at a track day in NI.
