Griffith/TVR Gathering 2007

Griffith (Series 200/400/600) owners, TVR owners, Griffith lovers and other perennial fanciers of the marque, start to plan on attending the Griffith Gathering at the Possum Valley Ranch, nestled in the foothills of the Appalachian mountains of North Carolina, September 13th through the 16th 2007.
Staged in tandem with the annual “Food Lion Fall Auto Fair” at Lowe’s Motor Speedway, (nee Charlotte Motor Speedway) the Griffith Gaggle can spend three or four days celebrating their cars’ heritage at Mike and Ellen Mooney’s Possum Valley Ranch in Claremont, N. Carolina, USA.
Located about 16 miles ESE of Hickory, North Carolina, 18 miles WNW of Mooresville, N.C. 20 miles SW of Statesville and about 40 miles from Lowe’s Motor Speedway (LMS) you can’t afford to miss this event. You can bring your Griffith or TVR, trailer your wreck or drive just about anything that you want to bring. If necessary, just hop in the old sedan and drive your grocery grabber to this one.
At this time the program is being formulated to accommodate and to entertain the members of the Griffith Motorcar Club International (GMCI) and the TVR Car Club of North America (TVRCCNA) for a few days of fun and cars! You can plan to be part of evening parties, cookouts, garage racing stories, cookouts and local tours that will help to cement the friendship and camaraderie within the Griffith and TVR families.
Guest speakers and entertainment are lining up. Friday evening we’ll be entertained with some DJ/Karaoke music and our guest speaker will be Len Bailey, one of the original factory workers. Saturday we have “Cotton & the Pickers” pickin’ n’ grinnin’ Blue Grass music for entertainment. Our guest speakers will include Willie Seitz, the Griffith factory fabricator and master machinist and welder, and Randy Hartigan, the originator of the first Griffith Club. There should be an active Q&A session following this duo. The program also includes a three-day long auto jumble and flea market, car and motorcycle show and country-style cookouts on Friday and Saturday evenings.
Arrival times can be scheduled anytime after Thursday, September 13th, 2007 to prepare for the Griffith & TVR Car Show that will be part of the Auto Fair at LMS. For those who will require lodging just about every major chain of hostelries are located within no more than 18 miles of Possum Valley Ranch. The best rates will be those in the Hickory, Newton and Conover areas. The list of facilities are hyperlinked on the website www.GriffithYears.com for your convenience.
Since Mooresville is closer to the Speedway the prices will be much higher and the traffic will be more dense. Staging for the LMS Car Show will be at the Ranch where there is plenty of room for secure parking.
With the crowd anticipated the GMCI will be looking for any assistance in the following areas of available talent: Cookout chef, parking master, safety officer, joke tellers, fireside story weavers, videographers and photographers.
Should any travelers want to bring their RVs or tenting equipment, they are welcome to park them here at the ranch. We have some nice and secure locations on the property with camper hookup facilities. You can call Mike Mooney at 828-291-5100, 828-241-3137 or contact him at Mike@GriffithYears.com for info.
For added information as the date nears keep a check on the Griffith website, www.GriffithYears.com and watch the interest grow.

This is going to be a great event and anyone who has a Griffith, ever had a Griffith, or wants a Griffith, or has any interest in TVR should make an effort to attend. It'll be an event that if you miss, you'll be talking about how you wish you had been there.

I was talking to a guy that knows of a Griffith that's been sitting since the late 70s.
I'll try to get some pictures.

I'm still trying to catch up with guy that has the Griffith!
But I've been repairing some TVRs in the meantime.
I have a 3000S in for a hard top fitting and SVO hood scoop, and repaired a 1974 2300 that was in a trailer accident..

Sounds like it might be a good month for spotting TVRs in the U.S.ofA.

Mike,

will you tell us a little about this project?
http://good-times.webshots.com/album/569503155GpCa...
What differential are you using?
What hubs?
What suspension arms and uprights?
I, for one, would love to know about it.

Thanks,
Bernard.

Mike,
5-5-09
Are you going to bring any of your rolling TVR stock to the Gathering of Griffiths and TVRs at Mid-Ohio June 25-28? It will be the 45th anniversary of the intro of the Griffith and Automodello will be unveiling their newest entry into the scale model market with ther Griffith Series 200.
During the next few days we hoping to be able to announce a special guest at the show. Stay tuned.
Check out www.griffithyears.com for information.
