I have recently imported a 1993 Chimaera into the USA and love the car, every time I drive it puts a Huge Smile on my face. I'm in the Philly area of Pennsylvania, curious how many others have crossed the pond and where you are located.

Hi - I am running a 4.3 Chimaera in Connecticut that I bought in Jan.
As an expat Brit I have had several TVR's back home but so happy to be back in one over here.

I’ve been rolling around North Carolina in mine since last year, loving it too! It is almost time to sell and hunt for another, maybe a Griffith...

There have been a couple of Griffs on BaT lately. I am still surprised how many people know the brand here and shout it out to let me know they recognize it!
It is still a very exclusive club over here ....I do miss the opportunity to pass another TVR, I think the chance of doing that is slim given our locations :-)

My plan is to bring a Cerbera over as soon as the 25 years is up......

You may want to check out the 'TVR Car Club North America'.
Lovely bunch of people fro all over the US and Canada.
I dropped out about 3 years ago as my US business trips ended but their, 'Out of the Woodwork', annual meet was, for the last few years, took place at the Carlisle, PA, Show Ground with the Imported Cars Show.

I don't know if they are still doing it but Tony and Joan Reynolds used to organise the club from their home also in PA.

the TVRCCNA is currently run by the board with regional RO's. Tony Hess is our current president. Check out the TVRCCNA details on joining or learning about the club..
Out of the Woodwork, our national meet is being held at Watkins Glen in conjunction with the vintage races this year the weekend of Sept 6-8, 2019.

I had a 1993 model.
I prefer the grill on that version.

Yours looks great, very nice colour combo.

It is in really good condition. I just sold it and will begin looking for a V8 Wedge to import.

I know the thread is "Chimaeras in the USA", but mine is close, as it is up in Canada.

Hi All

I'm beginning to look for a Chimaera to import to the US, figured this thread would be a good place to start. Would any of you who've gone through the process be willing to give me an overview of the general costs involved, and recommend any customs brokers you've worked with?

I've been researching import requirements and costs, most of it seems fairly straightforward except for one thing - the gas guzzler tax. How was that determined when any of you imported your cars?

Thanks
Andrew

HI everyone, I just joined this forum after getting my 93 Chimaera about a month ago. I'm located in the Detroit area, and was at the recent Woodward "cruise" hosted by David Tracy of Jalopnik, so you might recognize my car from his pictures. Looking forward to learning a lot more about these cars from this forum!

Nice!
A Fiat 500 and a Chimaera, in the US it's like you are only driving toy cars ;-)

Can you own a TVR in all USA states or do some like California not allow them?
