And the earliest Chims are now eligible for import. biggrin

The search begins! Any leads on an early LHD car would be very much appreciated.

I don't think Chimeras were in production until 1993 and a car cannot be imported before its actual production date or first known date of registration. So if your car was an April 1992 build date you cannot import it before April.
I've got my November 1992 Griffith 4.3 already tucked away in storage in the UK ready and waiting ;-)
Good luck with a LHD search. They are out there in mainland Europe but I understand they have a bit of a price premium.

Even in Europe most owners seem to have RHD cars the only left hookers that I have seen advertised are darned expensive............................ like in the 30k region price bracket.

Have seen an early 4.0L offered for sale in the next county claimed to be in the first 25 produced but that was registered mid 1993 and is of course RHD. How much such a car would cost to ship to the US and register over there .................................... well of that I have no idea.

Having driven in the USA a few times, a RHD car wouldn't be that much of a problem in most places, unless you go through a lot of drive-ins, e.g. banks and car parks, not just for food! Unless you live somewhere that has mostly single track roads.

Or is importing a RHD car just not allowed?

RHD is allowed in the US it's just that 99.9% of Americans simply will not entertain a RHD car.

My 350i Wedge is RHD and now that most areas have EZpass or an equal there is very little difficulty driving one.
Passing can be a bit of a trick some times but with all the power, it doesn't take long.
My 63 Grantura was RHD also.

I would recommend that you visit the Chim forum for any leads on a LHD car.
