Hi. I'm having a '88 S convertible shipped to my home in Northern Michigan which is a rear plate only state. The rear body "cutout" for the UK plates appears differently sized so how do others attach US-sized plates on to the S?

Personally I'd put 1/2" spacers between the plate and the car and maybe some protective tape on the body below the UK plate area (just the width of the plate) to stop any rub marks.

I have seen the USA plate attached to the UK plate at the top, so it hangs down and covers up the UK numbers. Are you a member of the US TVRCC? They have a great bunch of people near you.
Best,
D.

Is this an S1 or S2. I've got an '87 S1 in Dayton, Ohio.

Here's robinlarry's car with a US plate held on simply by two screws and a line of foam tape to protect the lower paintwork:

My only advice is to use acorn nuts on the inside to reduce the chance of damaging roof panels when loading/unloading.

Congratulations on the purchase. It's the kind of car that brings smiles wherever you go!
