S! Vixen / Grantura Felt window channel Inserts??
Discussion
Hello All.
I am re-building the doors on the racing car and switching over to lexan Sheet for the side windows. on stripping down the doors for re-painting I noted that the insert that goes into the door frame for the windows to slide in is perished and in poor condition.
I have left a message for venny but does anyone else have a source or knowledge as to what the stuff is. it is much thinner than the S2 vixen onward cars.
has anyone replaced this item during a re-furb before or have any ideas as to alternatives.
Also anyone know where I can get some steel bottom channel that glues to the bottom of the window . (the bit that takes the winder mechanism)
Neil.

For these kind of things I always use Woolies Trim...

Neil,
I think I had my felt chanel from Woolies, I asked them to send me some samples.
It was a little tight at first, but I put a bit of vaz in the chanel.
The thing to remember is that if you dont make sure the window moves freely enough, your going to have the window winder ripping itself out of the door.
If your other queiry is regarding the bottom of the frame.... I used 2 pieces of sheet galv bent into right anlges the distance between the frame at the bottom of the door. I then made slotted holes at the bottom of the angle to form a U chanel which could be opened and closed to suit the thickness of the door. The chanel was then bolted to the bottom of the window frame inside the door.
The chanel can also be bolted to the bottom of the door, as well as the frame itself at the top of the door, reducing frame movement to zero when closing the door on the seal.
