My Vixen S3 wiper wheelbox's are in bad condition and I want to replace them.
The partno. on the wheel box is 72781A.
These are no longer aviable.

If I am right also wheelbox no.72872 was used on Vixens.

Are these the same and will they fit?

Anything here that would do?

http://www.holden.co.uk/displayproducts.asp?sg=2&a...

Otherwise there are a couple of very helpful chaps who occasionally post on this site who, I'm sure, would be only too pleased to advise you..... Adrian? ..... sTeVeR?

I replaced mine recently using parts from this company.

Ive been here before.

I bought some from Car builder solutions. The only difference seems to be in the length of the shaft that pokes thru the bodywork.

There is, of course, a different variant with a different number of teeth on the wheel to alter the sweep of the blades.

Those which I bought were perfect.

Thanks guys.
I have found two secondhand ones that are like new.
They come from a 1969 MGB and are exactly the same
as the old ones on my Vixen.

I'm the owner of a TVR Vixen 1300 (pre-m chassis) from 01/01/1972 and I'm restoring it.
The problem is I have no wipers motor, neither wheel boxes, tubes and drive rack ... NOTHING
So, I want to buy from s-v-c (http://www.s-v-c.co.uk) a complet new 14w wiper motor kit but I need some informations if someone can help me :
- drive gear angle (105 degrees ?)
- different tube lengths ?
- wheel boxes 32 tooths ?
- where is fitted the wiper motor ? in the car ? in the engine bay ?

Thanks all for looking and for the answer !

They were fitted in 2 locations. Some folk fit the wiper motor in the engine bay on the RHS of the car. Some folk fit the wiper motor inside the LHS bulkhead.
will post a clear pic of the installation.

Adrian Venn can sell you a full kit. This was always one of his speciality items.
You can also buy a full kit from car builder solutions and use a brake pipe flaring tool to tweak your tubes to suit the install.
I have messed with a few vixens now and have always found they there are variations between the tube lengths..

Pic enclosed.

I have wheel box 72781A (MGB ??) and 32 teeth.
Tube lengths from motor to LH wheel box is 32 cm, in between wheelbase 43 cmand end piece 23 cm.

Hopes it helps.

wheel boxes should always be mounted and tube lengths then measured…The lengths often differ by 5-6mm either way between the same models let alone different ones.
Also there are quite a few wheel boxes floating around all with slightly different dimensions.

If it's any general help, the Vixen setup looks VERY similar to the 'small Triumph' setup (Herald/Spitfire etc), but I can't confirm if that's where the wheel boxes actually come from.

The motor assembly from ANY Triumph should work, from working with Herald based kits, Triumph Saloons etc. I am pretty sure they are all the same, and so are many BL ones (Marina, Allegro), but the wheel boxes definitely vary (to get different sweep) between models. I've also seen a few kits with home made copper microbore pipe !! (10mm I think...), so there are ways to 'hack' a system together....

TR5/6 actually use a Herald/Spitfire windscreen and frame/surround, not sure if those wheel boxes might work ??

IMHO you need to be looking and paying for a motor that has the ability to accept Lucas historic brush sets and park switches...the wiper motor wheel box combination with gear set within the motor define the overall wipe area. If you look at OE window screen rubber seals the factory used to indent the rubber to allow the wipers to arc correctly, as for general differing in hole centres that is allowed for in the how TVR built up their units.
