does anyone know of the best method of fixing/replacing a rusted front bonnet hinge support on a 3000m as it looks to me like it is embedded into the fibreglass of the bonnet itself. Are there any alternative solutions, ie quick release mechanisms that anyone has used?

David Gerald can supply replacement bonnet frames for both the early and late bonnets (they're different so you'll have to specify which) for about 60GBP, but you'll have to cut the old one out and bond the new one in. As far as I know, there's no alternative to this. If you want a quick release bonnet, they do nice Stainless R-clip quick release bonnet mounts for about 25GBP ea which are a replacement for the standard steel hinges, but you would still have to bond some kind of support into the fibreglass. Hope this helps - E-mail me if you want any more info or photos.

Have a chat to Adrian Venn. He can do the work, and supplies the quick release hinges. I think that Steve Reid and Ian Bannister can supply and do the job as well.

Quick release is nice and I thought about that myself. But what do you do with all the wiring ?

I got my dad to fit connector blocks to both sides it's just a case then of unplugging them a lot easier and neater then messing with the bullet connectors.

You'll find that all the relevant wires can be found in a standard trailer lighting cable - even fogs if you want them fitted. Bring the cables into a trailer socket (about £3) and use a trailer plug to connect to the bonnet. You can get trailing sockets, but I used 'bulkhead' type which I fitted to a small bracket. When you want to remove the bonnet you just pull out the trailer plug...... Spin
