I'm in the middle of taking my S2 apart at the moment to do the body.

The side vents are the metal slat type, (not the ford items).

They look as if they have been on and off the car a couple of times and now look a little shabby.

Has anyone found a way or anyone to make new ones?

They look to be the same material as Mini grille, but not sure how easy it is to obtain. I would imagine they would need laser cutting and folding to get them straight.

Can't help I'm afraid - seems to be original fitment on my very early M.

I've recently had to stick them back on after having a front respray as they were only held on by silkaflex. Car broke down and the nice AA man put his knee on them and detached one on each bloody side. Now stuck to the silkaflex with araldite! Whatever they are from originally, they are all the same length and fairly robust.

Ian,

The Vixen ones look like thin stainless sheet, folded on the ends and then rivetted on.

I've never seen an M with this type vent, you got my hopes up for a set of new ones and now they're dashed.

Think I,ve got patterns for these somewhere, I'll see if I can dig them out. They are all 6 different and handed. held on by rivets and never fitted to early "M",s from new

I believe I have a set of Vixen S2 side grilles in my parts inventory.
E-mail me at cmw-tvr@cox.net for more information.
Thanks,
Marshall

Strange - The inside of the wing where they fit is grooved to hold them at an angle and have never been rivited on. Non are handed and all are the same length.

The vents of the S2 Vixen were taken from the back (c post i think) of a big ford saloon, something like the zodiac or zephyr, but i've seen copies made in aluminium wich looks great to! i think tvr just changed the vents from s2 to s3 when ford did on the zodiac or zephyr

Oscar,
your absolutly correct the later ones were Zephur, but the early ones were made up and looked like 3 metal slats.
