I'm moving to Australia (Melbourne) and planning to take my 1975 3000M with me. Does anybody have any useful links or contacts in Oz? Specifically regarding part availability? Any help would be greatly appreciated....

I recently imported my 1975 TVR 3000M (piccy on my profile) into Australia and got it registered Monday just gone. So she is back on the road - finally!
I didn't have any major problems with the process, although got caught on the import duty rule which Customs will wave if you have a vehicle 30 years old or over.

Have a look at this link which explains the process:

www.dotars.gov.au/transreg/vsb/vsb_10.aspx

I suggest you get a letter from the TVR Car Club archive boys which demonstrates the age of your car. As there is no manufacure date on a TVR plate on the bulk head you need something to prove the year.

Make sure the vehicle is cleaned spotless for quarantine purposes. I tried to get mine as clean as possible, but that's not exactly easy with a 30 year old car that hasn't been restored for some 15 years or so. So I got stung for a "cleaning charge" which amounts to about AU$420.

Parts are not widely available in Australia, but you can get some bits for the engine here (there was a limited edition version of the Capri that had the Essex engine here).

I could rabbit on for ages but won't bore everyone else with the details so if you want any more info let me know and I can email you direct.

Don't they just sit in the car and spray - like the planes?

Congratulations on getting the car on the road. I lived in Aus for 6 years back in the 80's. Cars I dreamed about then were Holden Monaros and Falcon Phase 3s & 4s. Ah the days of Big V8s!

It's a vey long time since I did maths at school, but isn't your car 31 years old?

All I can say it is I was just happy to have her landed in one piece. The government has you by the balls, you either pay the money or you won't see you car again. So I paid the money!
