Hi All,

Looking to get a second set of alloys for my vixen.
Those running minilites, what size, offset etc are you using?
Are there any challenges with clearance I need to be aware of?

Cheers

Are you going to stick with the original 15” diameter?

I heard on another forum that the main issue is typically in the rear wheel arch. The inner fender is very close to the tire right above the top of the upright.

Hope someone who has been there will post up some information!

I'm running 6x15 Compomotive MLs on my Vixen bought as TR6 fit, probably wrong offset but not enough to be a problem on mine as I have Exactly modified rear uprights with the Triumph hubs giving slightly wider track

Apologies for the really slow response. I've been trying to find some more info.

I think the original wheels are 15x6 with a -10 offset. I'm struggling to find anything on the market that could be a suitable replacement and the original size tyres 185/70/15 are lots and lots of money. I can find 15x6 wheels with a zero offset, but presume this would then require spacers, not ideal and still doesn't get away from the expensive tyres.

Has anyone fitted 16" wheels to allow the fitment of different tyres that don't break the bank?

Keeping the original wheels and expensive tyres isn't out of the question, but then brings up the topic of tyres.... what is everyone using, specially for track and sprints

Its a bit of a mind field to be honest......

A few years ago I looked into 16" Minilites for much the same reason as yourself. All the Vixens I compete against seem to run 15" x 6 or 6.5 J Minilites with a 50 or 55 profile, 205 or 215 tyre. I don't like the look of the low profile tyre on a 15" rim as it doesn't fill the wheel arch and looks wrong! Hence why I considered 16" rims.

In the end I persevered with my standard 'Fin' wheel. I run a 195/65 tyre which almost matches the circumference of the original full profile 165's and cost £50-90 per tyre according to brand. My 'fins' are 5.5J so technically the 195 is considered just too wide. But I've had no issues in 5 seasons. I would run 185/70's if I could but can't find any I like at the right price that meet the championship regs.

Thank you, that's useful info. Which tyres are you using from the championship regs list? Is this the same list as motorsport UK? I'm struggling to find tyres in either 185/70 or 195/65 on any of the lists, 1A, 1B etc
