Vixen steering column
Discussion
Hi
Suspension done, on to body shell. Going to remove the column, as the bushes are shot. Weird steering wheel angle? It would seem easy to have 2 ujs and an intermediary shaft, like many other cars (Scimitar, TR7). This would allow the upper column to be straight, needing a new column mount to the body shell, easy to do. Then the intermediary just joins the column to the rack, in free air.
Anyone done this? What donor intermediary shaft? Pics?
Thx.

Nic. As you say it's all do'able. However, it's only noticeable when you drive a Vixen for the very first time and therefore a lot of work for very little return. The second time you drive the car you won't even notice it.
I think it's a just a Vixen quirk alongside offset pedals, spare wheel on the parcel shelf, brake failure warning light that doesn't connect to anything etc etc.

Part of the charm of the car IMHO. The Tuscan version is better with a second UJ and intermediate shaft (which are necessary to clear the exhaust manifold) so you could replicate that, but as Steve says, you won’t notice anyway.
Brake fail warning light should be connected to both the PDWA and the handbrake switch (if fitted).
