Anyone out there know which is the oldest known existing TVR with genuine competition history? We are trying to place 'my' old 1959 Mk1 Grantura works lightweight (not that I knew that at the time) in the order of existing competition TVR's. That Grantura is coming back to Europe to be restored back into competition condition and its place in TVR history needs to be clarified.
The new owner has raced in the UK, not in a TVR, and it would be nice to think it might yet be seen again in action in the UK.
There is much information on the car in 'Anyone own my old Grantura' but now we want to know about any OTHER early TVR's with competition history, especially works prepared cars, that still exist.

Well TVR No1 was built for Hillclimbs, so there’s the starting point!

For the earliest existing competition TVR you have to go all the way to No2.

I suppose I should have said production car! I know the very first cars Trevor produced were for his own and friends competition fun, and were a pretty mixed bag. If the Grantura was the first production car which was the first 'works' lightweight car?

Have you tried on the TVRCC forums or one of the FB groups?

It’s a fairly grey time, but good luck with your search.

Which chassis number / license are we talking about?

You should contact Peter Filby. On the one hand he had subchapters in both his TVR books about the racing history, on the other hand he was planning to publish a book covering TVR racing.

Furthermore you should contact Alex Saidel as later Jomars, so production cars, were used in racing in the US as far as I remember.

'My' old '59 Mk1 Grantura, later registered as LSN950, the background to which is covered in thread 'anyone own my old Grantura'
