Hi, need to remove the original fuel tank for cleaning and condition check. Is this possible without removing the rear glass? Thanks in advance.

Hello G,

Yes....but it is awkward because the angled glass gets in the way of getting your head and shoulders back there to undo all the fasteners/clamps and raise the tank comfortably up and out. Defo going to want to remove a seat or two.

Let the fun begin. spin

Thanks Arthur. I rather not take the glass out - so let the fun begin😉

It’s worth taking the seats out to get better access.
And make sure the tanks empty of course.
Also check for wiring where you least expect it.

If the tank has not been out before there's a fair chance the retaining straps have rotted out so be prepared to glass in some new ones

Why not take the rear glass out? Taking the tank out with glass in must be a pig of a job.

I've taken my glass out 3 or 4 times now and it's not difficult and should be out within an hour. Putting it back in takes longer - probably 3-4 hours or so with cleaning and sealing. You may want to replace seals though if yours are in poor condition.

Same as a Vixen I guess, glass/perspex out job. In those days Church Green Engineering could supply you a nice new back window ...

After removing LH seat for better working room the tank came out relatively easily. Thanks to all for comments, really impressed at how quickly they came in.
